Before They Spoiled the Software

ocbiker says: Another product you can add to the list is the freebie ZoneAlarm. What ever they did to this last version is so slow that I have to turn it off in order to get to my Web-based e-mail account. If the freebie is that bad, who'd want to risk $$$ on the paid version?

dmgliser says: You left out Microsoft Money 2007. Money 2003 was easy to use, intuitive, and overall great. Some months ago I "upgraded" to Money 2007. It is the buggiest version I have ever seen.

dk518a says: Hmmm, no mention of word processors, spreadsheets, and so on. I still hear people say, "WordPerfect 5.1: the last best word processor."

Hackers Post Techniques for Reversing iPhone Update

Syruss32 says: I just don't get Apple. They have a pretty cool product in the iPhone but they really don't see what their customers are asking for. I totally understand them not wanting a user to be able to switch providers when Apple and ATT have so much invested in the custom software that runs on the iPhone, but come on, what's the big deal about the software?

wbienek says: Either they're going to release an SDK at or shortly after the Leopard launch, or they've just dropped the ball. The installer.app for iPhone is simply incredible.

anagin says: No doubt iPhone is the best hi-tech toy ever to date, but Apple should allow humans to use it as they like.

Do eBay Ads Go Overboard?

yearight3 says: Everything eBay does goes overboard. I don't know why people even use it anymore. Prices for items on the site are higher than anywhere else, and the ridiculous shipping price games the sellers play are a joke. eBay customer service is among the worst on the Web. They do not care about their customers, and the ads are just another example of the company philosophy.

Mutterbutt says: I greatly dislike the ads plastered all over eBay; it just makes the site look cheap and unprofessional. If eBay can't make money running their business, maybe it is time someone bought eBay and made it both secure and user friendly. The more junk eBay adds to the site, the worse things work and the harder it becomes to do what I came to eBay to do--buy stuff.

mvstudio says: The deal with eBay and the ads they are placing on the site goes beyond what everyone thinks. The real truth is the revenue from the ads comes to replace what they have lost in listing and ending fees, store fees, and all the bunch of fees they have charged the sellers for years. The reason why they have lost so much money is because of the thousands of frauds happening on eBay every day.
