    Duration of ownership: 3 Months

    Strengths: Easy installation, useful software, quality product with a good name brand, efficient

    Weaknesses:Software loading at startup sometimes slows down startup of windows, doesn't seem to be new driver/software updates like intel has, a bit pricey

    Overall Evaluation: Overall, a great NIC. Has gigabyte potential, and even without a full gigabyte network it does seem to help data through my network with more efficiency. Card is very reliable, I had no troubles installing and setting up. I don't notice any updates for the drivers/software like I do when I use an Intel NIC, but I haven't had any problems so I won't complain too much about that. Just that when I see drivers/software updates I know the manufacturer is constantly looking and analyzing their product in an effort to make it better and better. The loading of the intial software when you start windows slows it down just a little (also depends on how speedy you're computer is). I think you can disable this software, but I sometimes take a peak at the stats and other info the software provides, so no big deal. The card is pricier than others, but I always hear good things about 3com so perhaps that's why they are more expensive.

    Strengths: No problems during installation. Works perfectly.

    Weaknesses:Somewhat expensive compared with competing products.

    Overall Evaluation: The NIC installed without difficulty. So far the NIC is running my DSL modem with perfect stability and all the speed I would expect.3COM also allows the user to install as much or as little of the included software as they desire (beyond the basic driver). A nice touch for those of us who prefer to avoid excess programs.Overall, I am very satisfied with the purchase.
