Strengths: Fast, Intel core duo is exactly that!
Weaknesses:Rosetta, Apple was eager to release it and I'm sure we all know why, but there are many prgrams like Dididesign's Pro Tools that isn't comapitble yet, I hear this month for sure...
Overall Evaluation: I was amazed at the fact that my Imac which had the same numbers as my pc, was so much faster. Music, videos, burning cd's, etc etc....I make music on Logic and it can handle anything I throw at it. I recently put a gig of ram to boost things and wow, what a difference...I recommend this for the everyday comsumer especially for the price, it is a sleek machine that I get compliments for all the time when my friends see it...

Strengths: Ease of setup, all in one elegant design, immediate recognition of network
Weaknesses:None noted yet
Overall Evaluation: I've always been a loyal PC user, enduring the glitches and crashes that invariably occur with this platform. After reading a PC vs. Mac review that realistically described the ways in which PCs fall short and Macs excel, I had to admit that I've been more than a little frustrated with the Windows environment. This especially applies with the considerable amount of photo and video editing I do. At the urging of a relative, I purchased this iMac G5. I've only just set it up and installed one program, but thus far have been impressed with the quality of the components, the all in one design that incorporates the computer's guts into the monitor, and the extremely simple setup. I also loved that it detected my wireless network and all I had to do was enter the network security key and I was ready to jump online. There are differences in the Mac vs. PC platforms that I will have to adjust to; I still plan to use my PC for non-graphics tasks, but I have very high expectations of the iMac and believe I will not be disappointed.

Strengths: Easy to view media, great, clear display, taking photos is easy, and much more.
Weaknesses:None
Overall Evaluation: When I first set this computer up, one word came to mind, and that was wow. This computer is absolutely amazing. I switched over to this computer from a PC, and learning how to use mac computers was easy on this computer. The front row program is awesome, and makes it easy to view photos, movies, movie trailers, and dvd's from anywhere in the room. Through this program you can also listen to music, and learning how to use the remote is easy and shouldn't take more then 5 minutes at the max. In addition to the front row program, there is also the photo booth application. This app. makes it easy to take pictures of yourself and I am sure that it will make you laugh as well. Over all, this is just an amazing computer and I don't think Apple could have done much better.

Duration of ownership: 1 Weeks
Strengths: Compact, fast, included software, included hardware, seems durable, beautiful
Weaknesses:25 GB of hd space already used up on first startup.
Overall Evaluation: When I bought this iMac G5 I couldn't help comparing it to my last purchase of an iMac G3 DV Edition in 2000. There is no comparison. I spent $1300 on the G5 vs the $1700 on the G3. The G5 came with SuperDrive vs the G3's CD/DVD-ROM drive. The G5 is compact and light vs the G3's bulk and heaviness. The G5 display is big and clear vs the G3's small, blurry and warped display. The G5 looks like a high quality product whereas the G3 always looked cheap. I can go on and on. Apple has come a long way in making computers with great value. This is a purchase I don't regret.
