Duration of ownership: 1 Days
Strengths: very easy to use...when it works
Weaknesses:Brother customer support is IMPOSSIBLE
Overall Evaluation: I bought this printer and it worked great for 6 months. Then, the printer returned an error. I called Brother and they did troubleshooting over the phone. After they could not resolve the error, they told me to take the printer to an authorized repair dealer. The repair dealers are very limited and I had to drive about an hour to get to one. After making three trips (because the first time I tried to pick it up the dealer would not release it), the dealer told me he could not fix the machine. Then, I tried to return the printer to BestBuy where I purchased the printer. BestBuy told me that they could not fix the printer and would not exchange it. They told me I had to contact Brother to get a replacement printer. Brother's phone customer service hours are very limited. I tried emailing back and forth several times, but I kept getting the response that I had to call and talk directly with a rep, with the printer in front of me, so I could not do this from work. By the time I finally was able to speak to a rep at Brother, the 12 month warranty period had passed. Even though I had documentation showing that the problem occurred after 6 months, Brother refuses to replace it now. I asked to speak with a manager and was told that managers were not available. I asked to hold and Sarah empl 1237 told me that she was not allowed to put me on hold and that the best she could promise me was a call back within 24 hours. She would not give me her last name. SPARE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND WASTED TIME - DO NOT BUY FROM BROTHER!!! IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG, BROTHER WILL NOT STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCTS!!!!

Duration of ownership: 8 Months
Strengths: None
Weaknesses:Inability to use any of the function when ink is low despite never having used the printer
Overall Evaluation: Sure if scans, copies, prints and faxes (if you have the patience and technical skills to understand the convoluted instructions) but at what price. Although the initial price is low it reminds me of the joke with the punchline "some golf resorts get you by the room". The scam is the fact that the unit shuts down when one of the ink cartridges gets low and it happens too frquently. I mean you can't scan, fax or do anything even functions which require no ink. I've never even used the printer but it continually "cleans the heads" using gads of Brother's expensive ink. At the price of the ink cartridges and the frequency they need replacement, Brother should give you the unit and live off the ink income.

Duration of ownership: 14 Months
Strengths: Wonderful photo printing. Small and compact. Nice appearance. Very easy on the pocketbook, even the ink is cheap.
Weaknesses:Slow printing, slow coping, slow faxing.....just generally slow. Print head not good quality, wears out quick.
Overall Evaluation: I have had my MFC-210 for 14 months, loved it up until last week, print head went out. I don't know if this is typical or if I just happened to get one that was defective. I would have to think twice before buying a Brother again just because of this fact.

Duration of ownership: 1 Years
Strengths: Easy to set up. Faxes nice enough
Weaknesses:No printer (managment) software for Macs. Tiny barely legible LCD screen.
Overall Evaluation: The noise and the slow printing I could put up with, but the lack of any software to manage the printer sucks immensely. It is available for Windows, but not Mac. You can not check ink levels or what the errors that prevent it from printing (like sneezing dog). I made the mistake of getting two of these but I wound never recommend them. The lack of software that allows you to review errors (like flea farts) on the computer screen, forcing you to the teeny, tiny one line dot-matrix looking LCD screen, that would only beep no matter what you were trying to accomplish (and it is not a fun beep either). Also I do not like that if it is out of ink (like yellow, not that you can check levels) it will not fax or scan or print in black. It would be different if I could check the levels, but since I can not, I am often held hostage by the magenta ink just for want of a scan.

Duration of ownership: 6 Months
Strengths: Price for Quality
Weaknesses:None so far
Overall Evaluation: I've had this machine for nearly 6 months and have no complaints at all, quick print speed and copy speed. Everyone complains about the LCD being dim however, while mine was dim by default, after changing the LCD brightness setting, it is perfect. I would definitely suggest this machine.
