I was not alerted via email to the availability of a backordered item - I found it was availble by checking the site myself. There was nothing noted about the credit verification step during the purchase process, so the first feedback I had about my purchase other than the "order received" email was from their credit verification department. While I appreciate this supposed buyer security measure, it was offputting to have this as first post-sale communication with no advance notice.
