Strengths: if you like or love what you have, dont leave it. vista is just one big cover up of XP, I wish I had never bought this.

Weaknesses: You have to go around your elbo to get to your thumb.

Overall Evaluation: If Microwave would use normal people to help design programs they wouldnt have so many dead end streets. the system acts mushy, and slow about everything, go to the defrag program, you cant use the msconfig in the run application.

Strengths: Solid enhancement to the XP platform.

Weaknesses: Overzealous needs to request change confirmations, media rights management, and some driver incompatibility.

Overall Evaluation: We have used Vista before, as installed on Dell made computers, but this was the first time we actually installed it from scratch on a home made computer. The process was easier and quicker than expected; seemed easier to me than clean installs of other Windows versions. An overall great upgrade, but I hate how it handles media rights management (requiring some validation software to reinstall frequently needing computer restart); I also did not like finding my Dell A940 printer relegated to incompatibility.

Strengths: Looks Good, Improved networking, plays DVD's (without needing third party solution), and seem to be more stable. Also, can do a clean install.

Weaknesses: Price, activation process, slower file management, and not compatible with older software and hardware.

Overall Evaluation: Vista sure is pretty. Beyond that, however, vista is more of an aggravation than it is worth. Many of your third party utilities and older programs will not run in vista -so be prepared to replace them. Make sure that any hardware you purchase is also vista compatible. Also, if your operating system crashes vista has an automatic repair feature that can recover it and get you on your way. You no longer have to purchase software to play or watch DVD's and networking is much improved and easier to set up a home network. I have been using for about a year and although it is slower than XP in just about everything, it not as bad as some have reported.

Strengths: It's prettier than my XP. Run's the tutorials just fine.

Weaknesses: Most of your XP apps will not install or run right.

Overall Evaluation: Ok. Some one told me that, since I was upgrading my hardware I should go and upgrade to the new pretty operating system "Vista", and I forgot what my mother told me, about how, "beauty is, what beauty does". The only thing worse than trying to use Vista, is trying to use it on my old slower system. It would have crawled and not worked. My advice is wait till next year. Microsoft will have done some major work on it and some (not all) of the apps you run, will have updated their product's and drivers. This product should have been call "Windows 2008. Some apps and hardware will never be updated and you will have to purchase newer software and hardware. You will need to upgrade your processor and graphics card (in other words you may need a new system).

    Strengths: graphic interface

    Weaknesses: computer requirements

Overall Evaluation: after a long wait Vista came out with 4 different versions; this one is intended for home users who have little bit more demands i.e. graphics and are willing to pay little bit more than for just regular home version; after all very good upgrade to XP

    Strengths: Nice look

Weaknesses: Beware! Not all software that works on xp will work on vista! Before you buy the software or accsessories, make sure on the box that it is compatible with vista

Overall Evaluation: I dislike vista, because all the programs I was able to use on windows xp, I can no longer use. I suggest waiting a while before getting this one, so the programs will be set to use on vista.

Strengths: Extremely easy to setup, just as long as you've either read the short manual included with it &/or have plenty of experience at doing full/clean installions of PC operating Systems.

Weaknesses: A whole new ballgame compared to Windows XP O.S. Make sure you read the included manual before installation, back-up anything worth saving, & prep. all hardware/software for new Vista driver install.

Overall Evaluation: At record speed (for me anyway, if you do it as often as I do), & supposing nothing goes wrong (such as technical glitches/malfunctions/issues/etc.), without any complications and smooth clean installation all-the-way: It used to me take about a whole hour to install a full/clean version of Windows XP MCE 2005 O.S. (Not including updates, software programs, utilities, peripherals, etc. -- Just the Full/Clean O.S.) and it still reallied (heavily) on the ancient & outdated 3.5" Floppy Diskette for third party RAID Drivers, due to a huge lack of drivers needed to setup RAID functions -- even if you setup your RAID in DOS with a third party utility and/or in you PC BIOS, it pretty much still won't work if you want to install an XP O.S. in RAID without the drivers during it's installation/setup. (Again, when it came to doing a full, clean install of the Windows XP MCE 2005 O.S.; Not a Recovery, Upgrade, or retrieval through a backup disc, partition, &/or image, like from a third party such as Symantec Norton Ghost, etc.) When I did a Full, clean install on my RAID partition of a new PC I built from scratch (piece by piece) for the very first time, it took about 5-10 minutes, and I didn't need to use any third party RAID drivers on a floppy disk, because Vista Came bundled with plenty more Drivers than you could ever dream of (that's probably why Vista Home Premium takes up about five times more storage space than XP) -- no fooling! However, I made sure to read the manual before installing. Now I just need to learn how to use this new O.S. to it's full potential for all of my multimedia needs, but so far, it's been fairly easy to get the hang of. I also went online (on a different PC) and got all the new drivers for all of my hardware/software before installing Vista, but if you actually read the included manual, it'll recommend you do that anyway.
