Supercomputer Passes Petaflop Barrier
A computer built by IBM and commissioned by the U.S. government has surpassed the petaflop barrier and can perform more than one thousand trillion calculations per second. Roadrunner, the name for the machine, will primarily be used to ensure the safety and reliability of the nation?s nuclear weapons stockpile.
